Dipu Moni threatens tough action against question leaks

Seeking cooperation from all to check question paper leaks, the minister urged both parents and examinees not to look for leaked question papers

Vowing to put an end to cheating in examinations and question paper leak, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni urged students, parents and teachers not to look out for illegal methods in finding answers in the upcoming public exams.

She made the remarks while inaugurating 48th National Sports and Madrasa Winter Sports Competition at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dipu Moni said: "SSC examinations are going to be held. It is an examination for not only the students but for all of us. Let the public examinations be free from question paper leak and cheating."

Referring to the guardians, the education minister said: "Please do not look for any unethical ways ahead of the examinations. We will try our level best to prevent any wrongful act centring the public examinations."

“We are taking on the challenge of working in education. The exam-takers must be well prepared and pay attention to their studies. The exams will be free and fair and our expectation is that the results will be better this year,” she added.

The education minister also emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities, such as playing sports and music, for the overall development of the student population.

Dr Dipu Moni also asked parents to keep an eye on their children and make sure that they do not fall prey to drugs or militant groups.

The education minister said all departments concerned are sincerely working to root out all possible sources of question paper leaks, as some vested quarters are involved.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury also emphasized the importance of sports and extracurricular activities for mental and physical growth.

Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate Professor Dr Sayed Golam Faruk presided over the event, while Education Division Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Division Mohammad Alam, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Abdul Mannan, Acting Commissioner of

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (KMP) Kushum Dewan, and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Mohammad Ziaul Hoque, among others, also addressed the event.

Chairman of the Chittagong Education Board Prof Shaheda Islam delivered the welcome address, while chairmen of all education boards, senior officials and representatives of different institutions attended the meeting.

 Thousands of students from 220 educational institutions that participated were present in the stadium.
