Universities have to take necessary steps to ensure health safety in campuses
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a letter asking all private and public universities to suspend all kinds of academic activities in their campuses till June 15.
Public transport—road, rail, and waterway—will resume, but on a limited scale, from May 31 while strictly adhering to some conditions, according to a gazette issued by the government on Thursday.
The UGC issued their letter on the same day.
The UGC said, with the closure of academic activities, the university authorities have been asked to take all necessary measures for ensuring health guidelines at their respective campuses, and they can seek the UGC’s help regarding that through virtual meetings or e-mails instead of directly meeting with the UGC.
However, the universities are allowed to hold online classes and distance learning programs, according to the letter.
