The number of public universities in the country will stand at 48 when these two new universities start their journeys
Two bills were placed in the parliament on Tuesday for setting up a science and technology university in Chandpur, and an agricultural one in Habiganj.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni placed the bills in the house, and both were sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny, reports UNB.
The committee was asked to submit its reports within one month.
The bills are ‘Chandpur Science and Technology University Bill, 2020’, and ‘Habiganj Agriculture University Bill, 2020’.
The universities will be like any other university, the minister said, adding that the number of public universities will stand at 48 in the country when these two new specialized universities start their journeys.
The president will be the chancellor of the universities.
Like any other university, there will be a vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellors, registrar, treasurer, controller of examinations, syndicates, and academic councils at these universities.
