The government has launched an online platform called Virtual Class to keep regular class activities running efficiently at universities amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The platform (www.virtualclass.gov.bd) was launched through an inaugural ceremony held online on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) on Tuesday.
The event was conducted by Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of a2i. Mr. Md. Afzal Hossain Sarwar, policy specialist of a2i, gave a presentation on the concept of Virtual Class.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni joined the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the platform.
“The Virtual Class platform is not just an option but an integral part of education from now on. It is a shining example of inter-ministerial coordination and a major step forward in education and a landmark initiative in online education,” said the minister.
State Minister for ICT Mr. Junaid Ahmed Palak said, "The Virtual Class platform will further enrich ‘ICT in Education’ and ‘Education in ICT’ in Bangladesh to take forward a technology-oriented digital Bangladesh."
Vice Chancellor of the National University Dr Harun-ur-Rashid, Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, and Jessore University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Anwar Hossain, among others, joined the online event.
