Conducting classes amid pandemic: 2 coaching centres fined in Chittagong

A mobile court on Wednesday fined two coaching centres of the city on charge of keeping the centres open amid the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic prohibition.

Executive Magistrate of Chittagong district administration Omar Faruk conducted the mobile court at the city’s Chawk Bazar area on Wednesday with the help of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).

Oracle Coaching Centre was fined with Tk 10,000 while BCS Helpline Coaching Centre was fined with Tk 5,000.

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Executive Magistrate Omar Faruk said that the government ordered all private and government educational institutions to suspend classes due to the pandemic.

“However, some coaching centres are conducting classes defying government order. The two errant coaching centres were fined and verbally warned. We will continue our drives against all the errant coaching centres,” added the Executive Magistrate.
