Update : 11 Dec 2020, 11:32 PM

Secondary schools across the country are set to start distributing admission forms from December 15.

The deadline for collecting the form is December 27. In line with a previous decision by the education ministry,  new students will be admitted on the basis of a lottery system amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) made the announcement in its admission policy for public schools issued on Friday, according to media reports.

DSHE director Belal Hossain told an English daily that the education ministry approved the policy on Thursday.

The form distribution and submission will take place online. Students will have to pay a fee of Tk115 to submit the forms.

Based on the geographic location, the schools of Dhaka will be divided into three groups – A, B, and C.

Students in Dhaka will be able to select five schools from each group.

On November 25, Education Minister Dipu Moni said admission into government and non-government schools will be taken via a lottery system.

The decision was taken to curb the Covid-19 transmission as the country is in the middle of the second wave of the pandemic.
