North South University (NSU) on Thursday unveiled its new Campus Radio, TV (NSUCRT) and Digital Lab to serve the NSU student community within and beyond campus.
An inauguration ceremony was held in this regard, where Information Minister Hasan Mahmud was chief guest, said a press release.
NSUCRT will be operated within the campus, but the program will be live-streamed and uploaded online.
Though NSUCRT will be operated mainly by students, advisory, the managerial and technical team will always be there to oversee the production and airing.
"We appreciate organizations such as universities that will operate Internet-based TV, which will play a role in expanding education and developing student’s talents," said Hasan Mahmud.
Campus radio and TV are strategic tools to reach thousands of current and potential students and their parents through online broadcasting, said MA Kashem, chairman of NSU's board of trustees.
“We are trying to established Media and Journalism Department at NSU. We have submitted our course curriculum for approval to University Grants Commission (UGC). So, this is a right step in the right direction," said Prof Atiqul Islam, vice chancellor of NSU.
