Bangladesh has decided to extend the ongoing closure of schools and other educational institutions until August 30 amid a surge in Covid-19 infections.
The Education Ministry, in a notification on Thursday, announced that all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions, including Ebtedayee and Qawmi madrasas, would remain closed until the said period.

The coronavirus situation has deteriorated further across the country and strict lockdown is in effect. So, this decision was taken in consultation with the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 to ensure the health and overall safety of students, teachers, staff and guardians, says the press release.
Previously, the government had extended the educational institutions' closure till July 31 in phases.
