Ballot boxes in several wards were stuffed the night before the city election, alleges BNP’s Sylhet city mayoral candidate Ariful Haque.
He also expressed concern about the outcome of the election.
“Sajeeb Wazed Joy has already hinted at the possible results of the polls,” he told reporters after casting his vote on Monday morning at Raynagar Government Primary School centre in Jherjheri.
Allegations of ballot stuffing was also raised by Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal’s Barisal city mayoral candidate Manisha Chakraborty .
Voting is underway in Sylhet, Barisal, and Rajshahi city corporations. The election, being held only months before the national polls, is being taken seriously by the political parties.
