Mirza Fakhrul said that the Election Commission is responsible for creating a level playing field for all groups
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said conspiracy of fraud has been made in the upcoming election in the police headquarters.
Fakhrul made this remark while talking to the press at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office on Tuesday.
Fakhrul said: “We all witnessed that police rigged votes during the city corporation elections. The government wants to implement the same tactics for the upcoming general polls. They are conspiring with the police in the police headquarters.”
“We demanded replacement of the controversial police officers or have them closed. But the government did not do that. Though we are preparing for the general election, this election too, is being questioned. Election Commission is not performing their duties properly as opposition activists and leaders were arrested even after the announcement of the election schedule,” he added.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the Election Commission is responsible for creating a level playing field for all groups. But they are not doing any of this.
“Election will not be acceptable and credible unless they stop arresting the opposition activists. I urge the Election Commission to 'wake up',” he added.
“We want a neutral administration. Army needs to be deployed with magistracy power 10 days prior to the general election,” he further added.
