He is expected to contest for Rangpur 5 constituency in the upcoming 11th general election
The High Court has directed the Rangpur district returning officer to accept the nomination paper of BNP-nominated candidate Jamaat leader Prof Golam Rabbani for the upcoming general polls.
A High Court bench, presided over by Sheikh Hassan Arif and Rajik Al Jalil, passed the order on Monday—following a writ petition which was filed by the candidate on Sunday.
He is expected to contest for Rangpur 5 constituency in the upcoming 11th general election.
Rabbani’s lawyer Shishir Monir said: “When Golam Rabbani went to the returning officer to submit his nomination paper on November 28, the returning officer did not accept his nomination paper. However, now the court has directed the Election Commission to accept his nomination paper as soon as possible.”
