The ruling Awami League on Friday started distributing nomination letters to candidates who will participate in the upcoming general election from the ruling 14-party alliance.
Awami League also distributed nomination letters to single candidates in 17 constituencies, where the ruling party had earlier announced multiple candidates.
The distribution process formally started through the handover of the nomination letter for Rangpur 6 constituency to Speaker Shirin Sharmin on Thursday night. Other candidates from the Awami League-led alliance began getting their letters on Friday morning.
During a press briefing at the Awami League president's political office in Dhanmondi, ruling party General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Workers Party will get 5 seats, JaSaD Inu 3, JaSaD Ambia 1, Jatiya Party Monju 2, Tariqat Federation 2, and Juktofront 3.
