Training to polling officials on use of EVMs on December 14, 15

Of six constituencies of the country where electronic voting machines (EVM) will be used Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) is one

Preparations are underway to conduct the election through the EVMsin the upcoming general election slated for December 30.

Process is going to impart training to polling officials about voting through the EVMs. 

Kotwali Thana Election Officer Kamrul Alam, said, "Some trainers will be groomed before imparting training to the field-level polling officials. It will commence on December 14 and 15. The trainees will later on impart training to field-level election officials."

“Voters from some areas under the Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) constituency will be invited to cast their votes on a trial basis,”saidthe District Election Officer Munir Hossain Khan.

Of six constituencies of the country where electronic voting machines (EVM) will be used Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) is one. 

"There is no confusion over the use of EVM in the polls. The voters will be able to cast their vote easily. The mob voting is underway to introduce the voters to the EVMs," said Kotwali Thana Election Officer Kamrul Alam.

Earlier, a decision for using EVMs has been taken through 'mob voting' on a trial basis with the participation of the electorates. 

This time, there are around 144 polling centres and 920 polling booths under the Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) constituency, with 391,612 voters.

There will be an EVM for each of the polling booths and a spare EVM for each polling centre.

A total of 180 aspirants have submitted their nominations to contest the upcoming parliamentary polls under the 16 constituencies of Chittagong.

As per the updated voter roll, there are now 5,641,219 voters in these 16 constituencies, of which 2,914,054 are male voters and 2,727,165 are females.
