'The code of conduct will be same for all. Nobody will be above it.'
KM Ali Azam, Dhaka divisional commissioner and returning officer of the district, has warned that violators of electoral code of conduct could face a fine of Tk50,000 and up to six months in jail.
Speaking to reporters at his office, Azam said: “The code of conduct will be same for all. Nobody will be above it."
One magistrate will monitor each constituency, he added.
As of Monday afternoon, a total of 132 candidates for 15 constituencies within the Dhaka city corporations were allocated their designated symbols at the returning officer’s office. Among them, 112 candidates collected their allocation notices, while 20 others were yet to get theirs.
Eight candidates received symbols for Dhaka 4, 10 for Dhaka 5, eight for Dhaka 6, 10 for Dhaka 7, 14 for Dhaka 8, seven for Dhaka 9, five for Dhaka 10, six for Dhaka 11, six for Dhaka 12, seven for Dhaka 13, seven for Dhaka 14, six for Dhaka 15, six for Dhaka 16, eight for Dhaka 17 and five for Dhaka 19.
