Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Dr Kamal Hossain had shown his real colours by shouting "Khamosh" (shut up) at journalists.
He made the comment while briefing journalists in Feni’s Daganbhuiyan upazila on Saturday.
According to sources, while the minister was inspecting the development of a road in the upazila, journalists asked him about the attack on Dr Kamal on Friday when he went to pay tributes at Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur area Friday morning.
They also questioned the minister about threatening to journalists by Dr Kamal on the day.
The minister said Dr Kamal has disclosed his real character to the people threatening the journalists and shouting Khamosh which is an Urdu word.
Dr Kamal has proved he is now a spokesman of dirty politics, the minster also said.
The minister said the people of the country realize there is no alternative to electing Awami League in the next general election to continue the current trend of development and Jatiya Oikya Front led by Dr Kamal got frightened at it.
Jatiya Oikya Front chief Dr Kamal Hossain on Friday, after paying tributes at Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur area, threatened journalists when they asked him whether there was any connection of Jatiya Oikya Front with the war criminals of Jamaat-e-Islami, which had openly opposed Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan in 1971.
