The BNP leader spoke at an election rally at Dinajpur on Saturday
Accusing Awami League of hatching various plots to win the election without people's vote, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday urged the voters to guard the polling centres on December 30 until the vote count ends.
"They [Awami League] have been alienated from the people. They are making various evil plans as they know they will not be able to win the election with the people's votes," he said.
Speaking at an election rally at Parbatipur in Dinajpur, the BNP leader further said: "Do not leave the voting centres until votes are counted. You will return home wearing the garland of victory."
He alleged that there is no congenial election atmosphere in the country and the enthusiasm among people over the election has waned as the Election Commission has failed to ensure a level playing field.
"The current Election Commission is useless and helpless. It cannot do anything except observe everything silently. So, they will not be able to hold a fair election," the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul said the 11th parliamentary election is very crucial for the nation as it will determine whether democracy will prevail in the country or not.
He urged the law enforcement agencies to play a neutral role in ensuring a fair and peaceful election.
"You [Election Commission] do not belong to any party as you are the servants of the republic. So, it is your duty to ensure an atmosphere where people will be able to go to polling stations and cast their votes in a peaceful manner."
Fakhrul also sought votes for BNP candidates from Dinajpur 4 and 5 constituencies, AZM Rezwanul Haque and Akhtaruzzaman Miah.

BNP’s Syedpur political district unit organized the public rally on the Five Star grounds in Saidpur.
He said: “A fair election cannot be hosted by a partisan government. We are participating in the upcoming general election for the sake of democracy and to free the BNP Chairperson from jail. We will stay in the electoral battle ground till the end.”
Referring to the government, he also said: “There is no one standing with you apart from the police and courts. So please stop the attacks and case filings against our party people.”
Earlier in the day, he arrived at Syedpur Airport by a US Bangla flight where party leaders and activists welcomed him with flowers.
