Police detectives have detained the wife and daughter of Jamaat leader Gazi Nazrul Islam, who is contesting the 11th parliamentary election with BNP ticket from Satkhira 4.
Thet were arrested from a home in Govt College area in Satkhira town on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrestees are Maksuda Khanam, wife of Nazrul Islam and their daughter Sharmin Sultana Khuku.
Nazrul is in jail in a sabotage case. He was arrested on December 16.
Ali Ahmed Hashemi, sub-inspector of district Detective Branch of police, said Maksuda and Sharmin were organizing people to carry out sabotage under the guise of an election campaign.
Police have also arrested 78 people across the district from Monday morning.
