Naogaon 6 BNP candidate’s motorcade attacked

The assault left 10 injured and a microbus vandalized

BNP candidate from Naogaon 6 constituency and former state minister Alamgir Kabir’s motorcade was reportedly attacked on Tuesday.

Awami League supporters instigated the violence around 6:30pm, injuring 10 activists and vandalizing a microbus, Alamgir claimed.

The former state minister alleged that they were ambushed by supporters of Awami League candidate Israfil Alam when on their way back from campaigning in the Dangapara area of Kashimpur union in Raninagar upazila.

Kashimpur Union BNP General Secretary Manjur Rashid and Guna Union BNP Organizing Secretary Sweet were critically injured in the incident. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Naogaon Sadar Hospital, Alamgir added.

Raninagar Police Station OC SM Siddiqur Rahman confirmed the incident, and said a case is in the process of being filed with the police station.
