He furthered that the government is paying to control law enforcement agencies
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has denounced Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed’s statement that a huge cash inflow from Dubai to Bangladesh was intended to influence the 11th general election.
He claimed this at a press briefing at BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters, on Wednesday.
Rizvi also said the attack on BNP’s candidate in Shariatpur 3 constituency, Miah Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, was pre-planned.
“Law enforcement agencies have arrested 8,243 of our activists nationwide and filed 773 false cases since the election schedule was announced on November 8. There have been a total of 12,353 injured in 2,693 attacks; resulting in four deaths”, he said.
“The government is spending money on law enforcement agencies. Even the police seek votes for ‘Boat,’ openly, in many places,” he further claimed.
The senior BNP leader said: “The BNP candidates and their followers come under attack during their election campaigning, nationwide, every day. BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was seriously injured during a campaign event yesterday [Tuesday].
“The BNP chairperson’s relatives are unable to meet her in jail. We are concerned for the security of everyone related to our party. Harassment and arrests by law enforcement agencies are ongoing nationwide,” he said.
The senior BNP leader also demanded the immediate release of all arrested BNP leaders and activists.
