The chief election commissioner also urged law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security for all voters
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has urged all political parties, candidates, and activists not to get involved in violence during the 11th general election, to be held on December 30.
He made the call while talking to the media at the Election Commission Secretariat in Dhaka's Agargaon area on Friday.
Emphasizing safety and security, Nurul Huda also urged all people from minority communities to go to polling centers and cast their votes.
"Many political parties, and the highest ever number of candidates are participating in the upcoming general polls. So I hope the national poll will take place with festivity," said the chief election commissioner.
Bangladesh will go to the polls on December 30, from 8am to 4pm. Voting will go on in more than 40,000 polling centres.
Nurul Huda, mentioning last minute preparations and the election campaigning ending at 8am on Friday, said: "Now, candidates and their activists will take part in the election from their own areas, so no one can create barriers for voters to cast their own votes."
The chief election commissioner also urged law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security for all voters.
