Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked everyone to stay alert so that Jatiya Oikya Front and BNP cannot make the election questionable

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged all, including her party candidates and followers, to disregard BNP and Jatiya Oikya Front, if they decide to withdraw from the Sunday's general election half-way through.

"Everyone must stay alert so that Jatiya Oikya Front cannot make tomorrow's [Sunday's] election questionable," she said after paying a visit to the critically injured Dr Mahbubur Rahman admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Dhaka Cantonment on Saturday, reports UNB.

She said there is no reason to believe Jatiya Oikya Front's decision to withdraw from the election fray on voting day. "It is just another of their games.

"I request the voters to cast their votes and the candidates to collect the result sheets signed by the presiding and returning officers," the prime minister said.

The Awami League president also said it is BNP-Jamaat’s character to withdraw their candidacies mid-election.

"I request all of our agents to stay at the polling centres until the results are out," Sheikh Hasina said. "All have to continue the election procedures."

The prime minister talked about her desire to observe a: peaceful, fair, free, and neutral election; on Sunday.

Sheikh Hasina asked her party followers stay patient, despite the fact that BNP-Jamaat activists have killed six of her party men and injured 100 before the polls. "I know the people of the country will vote for us."

Jatiya Oikya Front's demands for a level playing field are just their desire to ensure they have the grounds to clinch a victory. "They are not confident they have what it requires winning through a competition."

The prime minister furthered: "Due to the trade they plied with their nomination papers, many veteran politicians could not get party tickets. The angry nomination-deprived candidates naturally would not allow the nominated candidates to enter their areas."

She said the two groups locked into internal conflicts and tried to shift the blame on Awami League. "They are trying to muddy the waters. If BNP had not engaged in such nomination trade, they might not have faced these problems."

The Awami League president urged the people to cast their votes, as her party has struggled immensely to establish democracy and voting rights for the people. "Continuing the pace of development is crucial for development. If this development continues, Bangladesh will become more prosperous."

Sheikh Hasina added that local and foreign investments will  boost and strengthen the national economy if the election is held peacefully.

"If my party comes to power again, it will be good for all," she said. "However, the responsibility lies on the voters."

Regarding BNP-Jamaat's attack on Dr Mahbubur Rahman, in Dinajpur, the prime minister asked the law enforcement agencies to find the culprits and ensure the appropriate punishment.
