If Awami League wins in the election, we will dedicate the result to the people whose votes will continue Bangladesh’s development trajectory
Ruling Awami League has claimed that they will dedicate the victory of 11th parliamentary election to the people of Bangladesh if they win the 11th general election.
“If Awami League wins in the election, we will dedicate the result to the people whose votes will continue Bangladesh’s development trajectory,” said Awami League joint general secretary Abdur Rahman.
Rahman came up with the statement at a press briefing at Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi office on Sunday evening.
He said: “The nation casted its vote in a festive atmosphere. Though we experienced minor violence, but the much-awaited general election was held peacefully and it was free, fair, participatory and inclusive.”
Rahman claimed that BNP-Jamaat-Jatiya Oikya Front activists killed 10 Awami League leaders and activists and injured 461 in several districts.
BNP-Jamaat attackers also killed two Ansar members while they were on duty, he added.
“We condemned the heinous attacks and urged law enforcement agencies to take proper action against the perpetrators.”
Participation of voters from all spheres has proved that the election was peaceful and participatory. Awami League wanted to thank all the voters on behalf of party president for casting their votes for a better Bangladesh, told Rahman.
Rahman thanked Election Commission for holding such a participatory election, as well as the political parties for participating in the election.
“With the news we are getting from the voting centres, it seems we are going to win the next election at a huge margin in most of the constituencies,” Rahman remarked.
BNP-Jamaat had planned massive sabotage across the country in an attempt to foil the election but due to lack of organizational capacity they failed to do so, he claimed.
“They (BNP-Jaitya Oikya Front) boycotted the election when they were confirmed that people will not vote for them,” he said.
