General Secretary of the party Habibur Rahman Talukder made the allegation in a press release on Tuesday
Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) has alleged that widespread vote rigging took place during the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30.
KSJL General Secretary Habibur Rahman Talukder made the allegation in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Terming the election a farce, the release said: “Despite serious issues, most major political parties decided to contest the recently held election. But the government, Election Commission and ruling party thugs have turned the election into a farce.
“Every demand made by the opposition has been undermined since the announcement of the polls schedule.”
The press release continued: “We participated in the polls to ensure an inclusive election, and to re-establish the people’s right to vote. However, our leaders and activists faced attempts to clear them out from the election.
“We contested the polls despite facing arrest in cases filed under false pretences, torture, threats and intimidation. The ruling party, with support from the administration, disrupted our polls campaign across the country.”
It further said: “The election was rigged the night before voting day, as ruling party activists, with help from the administration, stuffed the ballot boxes with fake votes. Our agents were also prevented from entering the polling centres.”
The press release concluded demanding that the government and the Election Commission organize a fresh election under a non-partisan government.
