All necessary preparations for the polling are complete, said election officials
The by-election in the Gaibandha 3 (Palashbari-Sadullapur) constituency is set to be held on Sunday.
Voting in this parliamentary had not been held during the 11th general elections, held on December 30, due to the death of Jatiya Oikya Front candidate Dr Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury on December 20.
District Assistant Returning Officer Mahbubur Rahman said all necessary preparations for the polling were complete.
Voting will take place in 132 polling centres, for which 132 presiding officers, 786 assistant presiding officers, and 1,572 polling agents have been appointed, he added.
He further said all government and non-government institutions in the constituency would remain closed on election day to facilitate the election officials in exercising their voting rights.
Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan Mia said: “A total of 2,500 police personnel, 20 BGB platoons, and 84 Ansar officials will be deployed for security.”
