A total of 47 Janipop observers worked at 60 polling stations
Jatiya Nirbachon Parjobekkhon Parishadon (Janipop) has observed voting in the third phase of the upazila parishad election—for the chairman, vice chairman, and woman vice chairman posts—and said that the polls were free, peaceful, and neutral.
A total of 47 short-term observers of Janipop observed 60 different polling stations on a mobile basis, on Sunday, said a press release.
Janipop Executive Director Itrat Amin Kalimullah coordinated the Upazila election observation process.
Polling stations in: Shatkhira Sadar, Ashashuni, Shamnagar, Kaligong and Debhata Upazila of Shatkhira district, Uzirpur Upazila of Barishal district, Kashiani and Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalgonj district, Chandhanaish and Patia Upazila of Chattragram district, plus KachuaUpazila of Chandpur districts, and other places were surveilled by the observers.
Janipop observed that the state of law and order at the polling stations, and the media presence was satisfactory, the press release furthered.
The third phase of the upazila parishad election saw low voter turnout during the early morning hours of voting, but it gradually improved as the day progressed.
