Speakers from diverse sectors highlighted the importance of the matter

Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) has celebrated International Women’s Day with a half-day long event at Krishibid Institute Bangladesh in Dhaka.

The event, titled “Balance for Better,” which focused on gender balance, was held on Friday.

Eight speakers and 400 participants from all over Dhaka took part at the event supported by UKAid, and the Manusher Jonno Foundation.

The event was organized to highlight the importance of gender balance in driving sustainable development and progress in society. 

Through panel discussions, speakers from diverse sectors highlighted the importance of gender balance, and how collective action and shared responsibility is the key for driving a gender-balanced world. 

Legal Circle Founder and Partner, Anita Ghazi Rahman, Yellow Brick Road Co-founder and Managing Director, Farin Daulah, Handicap International General Secretary, Visually Impaired People’s Society, and Project Officer Nazma Ara Begum Poppy, spoke in a panel.

Nagorik TV CEO, Abdun Noor Tushar, BDRunners Co-founder Imtiaz Ilahi, Development Activist and Former Head of BRAC Skills Development Program, Farzana Kashfi, spoke in another panel.

The event concluded with poetry recitation and a musical performance by Chitropot. Volunteer for Bangladesh and United News Bangladesh were the outreach partner and media partner respectively.
