Deutsche Welle (DW) and RTV have jointly organized the certificate award ceremony of a workshop on digital media ethics in the age of social media.

DW Country Representative Ruham Manjur, RTV Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syed Ashik Rahman and workshop instructor Jessie Wingard handed over the certificates to the apprentices at the closing ceremony of the five-day long workshop at Dhaka's Tejgaon Bengal Square on Thursday afternoon.

RTV Deputy Head of News Mamunur Rahman Khan was also present at the program.

Syed Ashik said: "We are happy that we could conduct the workshop in collaboration with DW. We need to always maintain ethics at a workplace. The country will be benefited, if you [apprentices] can apply in real life what you have learned in the workshop.

"As journalists we should stop rumours from spreading. Journalists need to maintain ethics, and now you know it in details. Hopefully, you will be able to apply the teaching in real life at your workplaces."

Ruham Manjur said: "We want to spread DW's message all over the world. RTV is one of our partners. With their help, we organize this workshop every year.

"Social media helps to transfer news quickly, but it is same for fake news too."

The workshop started on November 10. Journalists from different media houses participated in the five-day workshop.

The workshop included training on proper usage of social media, morality, citizen journalism, news presentation in digital platform and various other related topics.
