Rules will be relaxed for Bangladeshis who seek medical visas to India, said the Indian High Commission in a statement released on Monday.
In particular, Bangladeshi nationals who wish to visit Indian diagnostic centres will now be eligible for medical visas, the statement said.
The move, announced during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s state visit to India from April 7-10, is being made in an effort to strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations, it said.
Applicants should attach proof of confirmation of their appointment at a recognised Indian hospital along with the diagnosis of their illness from doctors in Bangladesh, along with their medical visa application form.
No other changes will be made to the rules and conditions concerning these visa applications.
The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Gulshan of Dhaka and other IVACs outside Dhaka are now accepting medical visa applications on a walk-in basis.
