Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Johan Frisell made a farewell call to Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, on Sunday before the end of his tenure.
During their meeting the Swedish ambassador said he was grateful to the minister for his continued support during his tenure in Bangladesh.
Frisell also praised the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of foreign nationals after the Gulshan terror attack.
He also commended the foreign minister for his efforts to create a dynamic relationship between the two countries that resulted in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to Sweden in June.
The foreign minister told the ambassador that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greatly values the friendship with Sweden and the Nordic countries and hopes to further strengthen that relationship.
Ambassador Frisell praised the prime minister’s initiative to join ‘The Global Deal Initiative’, a social dialogue to ensure safe and decent work environment for workers and also appreciated the foreign minister for successfully holding the 9th GFMD Summit in Dhaka.
He was also appreciative of Bangladesh’s support to the Swedish candidature for non permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Minister Ali wished the ambassador good health and success at his new assignment.
