
The Foreign Ministry on Friday lodged another strong protest with the Dhaka-based embassy of Myanmar after the latter’s military drones and helicopters violated Bangladesh’s airspace again in Cox’s Bazar border areas several times in the past week.
About 400,000 Rohingya people, fleeing violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, have taken shelter in a vast area of Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf and Ukhiya.

The ministry summoned Aung Myint, chargé d'affaires of Myanmar embassy, Friday evening and protested the repeated airspace violations on September 10, 12 and 14, according to a ministry press release.

It said Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, director general (South East Asia Wing) of the Foreign Ministry, met Myint and handed over a protest note to him.

Referring to the previous airspace violations on August 27-28 and September 1, Bangladesh expressed deep concern and demanded that Myanmar takes immediate steps to prevent the recurrence of such incursions in the future.
Bangladesh, in the protest note, also mentioned that these provocative acts may lead to unwarranted consequences.
