US Ambassador Earl Robert Miller has reiterated the US' commitment to continued support for rural health education and environmental development in the hilly areas of Bangladesh.
Miller stated this to villagers, while visiting Begenachhari Naw-Bhanga village under the Barkal upazila on Thursday, on the second day of his Rangamati tour.
The US ambassador spoke to the villagers, and inspected several socio-economic projects implemented in the region with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); including a water supply system and plantations.
The villagers urged the visiting ambassador for continued USAID support and expansion of the existing projects in the area. In response, he assured them of the US' continued support.

Miller was accompanied by his wife Michelle Adelman, USAID Bangladesh Mission Director Derrick S Brown, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) official Prosenjit Chakma.
Other USAID and UNDP officials were also present there.
