BSF returns body of Bangladeshi national after 22 days

The body was returned during a BGB-BSF flag meeting on Sunday

India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has returned the body of a Bangladeshi national, 22 days after shooting him dead near the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

BSF returned the body during a BGB-BSF flag meeting around 10pm on Sunday.

The deceased is Abdur Rahim, son of late Abul Kasem of Bauli village in Maheshpur upazila, Jhenaidah 58 Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) Additional Director and Deputy Commander Kamrul Hasan told Dhaka Tribune.

He said: "Rahim was shot dead by BSF inside India near the Maheshpur border on November 3. After the incident, we contacted BSF a few times and asked them to return the body, but our efforts were in vain.

"However, BSF officials finally sent Rahim's body back during the meeting on Sunday."

The body has been handed over to the deceased's family in the presence of BGB and police officials, the BGB official added.
