Details of the gifts were not disclosed
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a congratulatory gift to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
The gift was sent through the Benapole checkpost on Sunday afternoon.
Tawfiq Hasan, deputy commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, delivered the gift to the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Office Nabanna.
Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge (OC) of Benapole Immigration Checkpost, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s gifts were sent to Benapole through Ataur Rahman, chief protocol officer of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Benapole C&F Agent Representative Mostafizur Rahman Rubel said the gifts sent to the West Bengal chief minister were taken from the Benapole checkpost at around 12pm and delivered to the Petrapole checkpost on the other side.
Alam Hossain, assistant secretary to the first secretary of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, had already been in Petrapole to receive it.
However, the details of the gifts were not disclosed to journalists.
Deputy Commissioner (Political) BM Jamal Hossain said the gift items reached Kolkata in the evening and later arrived at West Bengal Chief Minister’s Office.
