PM foresees ties with US reaching higher heights in coming days
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted US president-elect Joe Biden and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris.
In his message to Joe Biden, the president said the existing relationship between Bangladesh and the United States is excellent.
He hoped that the ties between the two countries would reach a new height and expand in various fields, including trade and investment, under the leadership of the newly elected president of the United States.
Hamid wished the newly-elected US president and vice President a great success, good health and long life.
Hasina congratulates Joe Biden, Kamala Harris
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, saying she foresees the bilateral relationship reaching higher heights in the coming days.
"Indeed, I look forward to working closely with you in attaining those ideals as well as in effectively confronting the evils of terrorism, violent extremism, hatred, forced displacements as of the Rohingyas, and for the realization of a safer and a better world," the prime minister wrote in her message to Biden.
On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, and on her behalf, Hasina conveyed warmest congratulations to Biden on his victory in the November 3 presidential election. Biden will become the 46th President of the United States of America after he's sworn in on January 20.
"I believe your resounding victory reflects the profound trust and confidence the people of your great country have in your extraordinary leadership proven over four decades of devotion and dedication towards their welfare, and that of the USA," she said.

Hasina said she also believes that their sagacity and astute stewardship will also energize the US in leading the world into a new era of global peace, and international cooperation in securing prosperity, and unity in facing the challenges of climate change.
Bangladesh, since its independence in 1971, has forged an excellent and durable relationship with the US, Hasina said. "Now with you at the helm of affairs of your country, I foresee the relationship reaching higher heights in the coming days."

Hasina extended a very warm invitation to Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden to visit and experience Bangladesh and its overall progress achieved by its own efforts, the strength of its people, and the support of its good friends such as the US.
She wished Biden and his family good health, long life and happiness, and the friendly people of the US continued peace, progress and prosperity.

In a separate message to the vice president-elect, the prime minister said it is a special moment of pride for the people of the United States at having elected a lady vice president for the first time.
"Surely your emphatic victory testifies your laudable leadership, remarkable achievements in public service, and valuable contributions to your great country and people," she said.
"I believe your tenure, in the esteemed office, shall witness continuance of your relentless efforts and successes in establishing equal rights and justice for all people, as well as gender parity inspiring women in the USA and across the world with hope, vigor and drive in fulfilling ambitions of their very own," Hasina said.

The prime minister said Bangladesh and the US, since establishment of diplomatic relations, have evolved an enduring, productive partnership growing and deepening with time.
"Now with you as vice president, proudly representing diversity and endowed with experience and wisdom, I see our two countries’ relationship reaching enviable heights," she said.
Hasina extended a very warm invitation to the VP-elect and Douglass Emhoff, her husband, to visit Bangladesh at the earliest to see firsthand the impressive socio-economic development and the extraordinary level of women empowerment.
"I wish you and your wonderful family good health, long life and happiness, and the friendly people of the United States, continued peace and prosperity," Hasina said.
