‘Take initiatives to protect interests of expatriate Bangladeshis,’ President Abdul Hamid tells ambassador of Bangladesh to Libya
President M Abdul Hamid has asked the new Bangladesh ambassador to Libya to take special initiatives to protect the interests of expatriate Bangladeshis and repatriate Bangladeshi citizens stranded in Libya.
The president issued the directives as the newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Libya Major General SM Shamim Uz Zaman paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
During the meeting, the president also directed the envoy to ensure that no expatriate Bangladeshi is deceived in Libya in any way, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.
Abdul Hamid also directed the ambassador to explore all sorts of prospective for the development of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Libya.
The envoy sought full cooperation and guidance of the president during his assignments.
President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Secretary (attached) Wahidul Islam Khan were present on the occasion.
