Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Jashim Uddin confirms the development
Six Bangladesh nationals, who were earlier stranded in troubled Afghanistan and later flown to Qatar and then Dubai, have returned to Bangladesh.
A flight of Emirates Airlines (EK 584) carrying them landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20pm on Tuesday, according to sources concerned.
The Bangladeshis – Rajib Bin Islam, M Kamruzzaman, Nazrul Islam, Imran Hossain, Abu Jafar M Masud Karim and Sheikh Farid Uddin -- arrived in the capital via Dubai, according to multiple sources.
All the six people used to work as engineers for Afghan Wireless, a mobile operator of Afghanistan. They were flown to a United States military base in Qatar on Saturday in the wake of the chaos created by the Taliban takeover of Kabul.
At least 15 Bangladeshis were waiting to be evacuated from Kabul. Of them, 12 were flown out of the Afghan capital on Saturday. Based on last available information, the remaining three of these 15 persons are still in Kabul.
Aside from the Bangladeshis, about 160 Afghan students studying at the Asian University for Women in Chittagong were scheduled to leave Afghanistan. Of them, 150 students, who were on vacation in Afghanistan, were flown to Qatar on Saturday.
