The Swiss government wants to operate regular flights to and from Bangladesh to promote trade between the two countries, marking 50 years of bilateral relations.
Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard made the proposal to State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali at a meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The envoy also expressed her government's interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to build an attractive tourism sector.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vietnam's Ambassador to Bangladesh Pham Viet Chien also expressed his country’s desire to establish air connectivity with Bangladesh and promote tourism.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings on Monday recommended setting up various facilities, including dedicated casinos for foreign tourists, at tourist spots under a master plan through combining the sites of Hotel Shaibal, Motel Probal and Motel Upal in Cox's Bazar.
