The deputy commissioners, the officers in charge of district administrations across the country, have raised a seven-point proposal for mobilizing the railway service across the country.

They put up their suggestions at a meeting with the Railway Ministry.

The deputy commissioner of Bogra, Mohammad Nur-e-Alam Siddique said the Railway should immediately complete the ongoing Sirajganj-Bogra-Rangpur rail line construction work to ensure better service.

“Bhairab is one of the biggest intersections in Kishoreganj district, which slows down train movement towards Chittagong and Sylhet routes. If the Railway would take initiative to build a parallel line, the problem might be solved soon,” said Sarwar Morshed Chawdhury, deputy commissioner of Kishoreganj.

Attending the meeting, Dhaka DC Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdaus Khan said the Railway should put more trains between the Kamalapur and Airport stations to meet the huge pressure of passengers.

Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque, and Secretary Mofazzel Hossain, were present at the meeting.

Mazibul said: “All the proposals have been noted down to ensure better service.”

“The high-speed bullet train will run through different destinations of the country if the Awami League government gets re-elected in the next national polls,” he told the DCs during the meeting.

“We have already started a feasibility study to run high-speed trains between Dhaka and Chittagong and our plan is to extend the service to Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Payra seaport,” he added.
