AL delegation to visit China in October

During the visit, the Awami League delegates are scheduled to meet with high-profile politicians of China and the top brass of the Communist Party of China

An 18-member delegation of the ruling party is planning to visit China in the first week of October, at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

Awami League party adviser Muhammad Zamir will lead the delegation; the rest of the members have yet to be confirmed, Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.

During the visit, the Awami League delegates are scheduled to meet with high-profile politicians of China and the top brass of the Communist Party.

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, several Awami League leaders have described the trip as a courtesy tour between two political parties.

With the next general election round the corner, the ruling party leaders' visits to China and India are happening frequently.

On November 30, 2017, a three-member team led by Muhammad Zamir visited China, while a 19-member team led by Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan visited China on September 18, 2017.

A 20-member delegation led by Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quadervisited India on April 22-24 at the invitation of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
