Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government has been working very hard to improve the people’s standard of living

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the aim of her government is to steer the country towards prosperity—as dreamed by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

"We have to change the fate of people living in remote areas of the country—this was the dream of the Father of the Nation. That is our target. We’re putting in our best efforts to achieve the target," she added— speaking via video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday, reports UNB.

The prime minister said this while inaugurating the Extended Administration Bhabans and Hall Rooms of nine Upazila Parishad Complexes, six newly- constructed Nagar Matrisadon Bhabans (maternity clinics), ten Nagar Healthcare Centres, seven bridges, and one jetty—in 20 districts across the country.

Sheikh Hasina also said that the government, as per its election manifesto, has been working very hard, for the last ten years, to improve the living standards of people—and accommodate them with a better life.

She mentioned that the government aims to make the country developed and prosperous by eradicating poverty. "We have achieved tremendous success to that end,” she added.

The prime minister also discussed that the government has taken steps so that people can lead a good life.

"We’re continuing our efforts to change the fate of people as, after assuming power in 1996, the AL government has always tried to materialize the dream of the Father of the Nation—to bring smiles to the faces of people and change their living standards,” she added.

She recalled the days during the BNP-Jamaat regime, from 2001-2006, that witnessed widespread killings, rampant corruption, and militant acts.

She said the people of the country voted Awami League into power again, in 2008, and just after forming the government it undertook numerous projects for the country’s sustainable development.

"As a result, Bangladesh gained socioeconomic status and recognition from the world as a developing country," she said.

Local Government, Rural Development & Co-operatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain also addressed the program.

Later, the Prime Minister talked to a cross-section of people from eight districts via video conference.
