At least 16 people were killed in the accident
Five separate probe committees have been formed to investigate the train accident that occurred when two intercity trains collided head-on in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan relayed the information to the reporters when he visited the scene of the accident on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Railway and Railways Ministry jointly formed four probe committees. The committees were asked to submit their report within three working days.
Meanwhile, Brahmanbaria district administration formed a separate probe committee to investigate the mishap.
At least 16 people were killed and over 50 injured in the head-on collision between Chittagong-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita from Chittagong near Mondobagh Railway Station.
Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Hayat-ud-Dowla Khan blamed the loco master of Turna Nishita for the accident, saying that he did not obey the signals.
