The employees of the two divisions of the ministry contributed their one day's salary
The Ministry of Education has donated Tk38.22 crore to the prime minister’s relief and welfare fund to tackle the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the check to Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, the chief secretary to the Prime Minister, on Sunday.
The ministry has so far topped the list of ministerial and departmental grants given to the prime minister’s relief fund to deal with the coronavirus situation.
According to a press release issued by the ministry, the employees working in the two departments of the Ministry of Education, and its subordinate offices and agencies have voluntarily contributed their one day’s salary and special grants to help the government in dealing with the crisis.
Of the total collection, the Secondary and Higher Education Division and its 16 offices and institutions have contributed Tk29,92,29,000, and the Technical and Madrasah Division has contributed Tk8,30,36,000.
Deputy Minister of Education Ministry Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Mahabub Hossain, secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed, and the director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Dr Syed Md Golam Farooq were among others present at the program.
