The Ministry of Education has asked for a list of government colleges that do not have a principal or a vice-principal. According to the list, the ministry will appoint principals and vice-principals to government colleges with vacancies for the positions. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), on Thursday sent a letter to nine regional directors of the DSHE, the DSHE director (college and administration), and the principals of all government colleges to send in the list by October 5.
According to the ministry, more than 150 out of 632 government colleges in the country are operating without a principal, while 28 colleges are running without a vice-principal.
However, around 350 teachers have applied for principal and vice-principal posts at various colleges, said Education Ministry Secretary (Secondary and Higher Education Division) Mahbub Hossain.
The Ministry of Education will appoint principals and vice-principals of government colleges by the end of October, according to the list, the secretary added.
