Police arrested two persons – Mamun and Helal – in this connection and a case was lodged with Hathazari police station, said police sources.
Jahangir Alam, 45, hailed from Banshkhali upazila, was a security guard at a local flour mill.
Officer-in-Charge of Hathazari police station Belal Uddin said an argument took place between two groups in Nandirhat railway area over lending money. Later, the rival groups engaged in scuffle.
Jahangir went there and tried to resolve the issue. Then, a person stabbed him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured, said the OC, adding that he later succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
After the incident police arrested Mamun and Helal conducting raid in Nandirhat area, said the OC.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an autopsy.
