On September 10 last year, a boiler explosion set fire to the food and cigarette packaging factory of Tampaco Foils Limited in Tongi. The three-storey factory building was burned down to the ground after most of the building collapsed in the fire. Police’s forensic department conducted a number of tests to identify the dead bodies.
Afterwards, two murder cases were filed accusing the factory owner and former BNP lawmaker Makbul Hossain and his wife Sajeda Pervin.
