A Chapainawabganj court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and also fined him Tk50,000 for strangulating his baby boy to death. The convict is Abdul Halim, 32, son of late Nuhu Munshi, who hailed from Gomostapur upazila of the district. District and Sessions Judge Md Enamul Bari delivered the verdict Wednesday in the presence of Halim, the lone accused in the case filed over the murder in 2011. According to the case dockets, Halim had a heated altercation with his wife Ayesha Khatun at the latter's father's home in Bholahat upazila over selling a piece of land on October 4, 2011. At one stage Ayesha left the scene and Halim strangled the one-and-a-half-year-old boy with a belt to death, leading to the filing of the case with Bholahat police station.
