1 dead, 28 injured from rice mill boiler explosion in Dinajpur

An explosion at Jamuna Auto Rice Mill in Gopalganj, Dinajpur around 11am on Wednesday left one worker dead and 28 injured. “The explosion occurred because a rice boiler overheated. Most of the workers present at the mill at the time were injured,” said a police source. According to police, the deceased was Anjali, a 40-year-old. After the accident, the locals informed the local fire service who rescued the injured and rushed them to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Dr Sarwar Jahan said most of the injured had severe injuries and 10 were in critical condition. Eight of the injured have been transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Dinajpur Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Redwanur Rahim said an investigation was underway and added that the owner of the rice mill was absconding.
