Four failed SSC examinees commit suicide
Four students of Feni, Gaibandha and Shariatpur districts, who failed to pass the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, have committed suicide. The deceased are Saobia Sabrin of Sonagazi Saber Model Pilot High School; and Tahmina Akter of Fulgazi Azmiri Begum Girls High School, Feni; Shamim Mandal of Idilpur Dakhil Madrasa of Gaibandha; and Shamim of Damudya Muslim High School of Shariatpur. Police and locals said the two girls of Feni committed suicide on Friday morning at their houses being frustrated over failure in SSC. Gaibandha’s Dhaperhat police Sub-Inspector Rezaul Karim said that Shamim Mandal hanged himself from the ceiling of his room on Thursday evening after hearing his bad result. In Shariatpur, Shamim died taking poison inside his room on Thursday afternoon after learning that he had failed to pass in mathematics and accounting. The results of SSC and equivalent examinations were published on Thursday with 80.35% pass rate.
