The Dhaka Tribune correspondent visited the scene on Saturday and saw workers appointed by CPA cutting down the trees, which are presumably around 100 years old.
Md Nasir, a contractor, told the Dhaka Tribune that the CPA assigned them to cut down the trees.
Nasir said the roots of the giant trees were growing underneath the area’s boundary wall making it vulnerable and inducing risk of accidents.
