Abducted Indian citizen rescued from Sherpur
Police have rescued an abducted Indian citizen on Monday from Jhenaigati, Sherpur. Dajed Sianlia, 17, from Meghalaya's Nongstoin district in India, was reported missing since May 12.  He was abducted from the border area in Sunamganj by Md Alam, 30, and his associates. A police source said: “When Alam and his associates demanded Rs60 lakh from Dajed's family, they informed the Khasi Hill district police superintendent regarding the incident, who then informed the Sherpur police Superintendent for his cooperation.” Sherpur Superintendent of Police Rofiqul Hasan Gani said police tracked the mobile phone used by Alam, and in a drive conducted on Monday night, rescued Dajed from Ahmednagar in Jhenaigati. Sherpur Additional Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam said Alam has been arrested and a case has been filed with Jhenaigati police against him for holding Dajed hostage and having involvement in the abduction.
